My name is Sydney K. Brannoch and I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Washington, Seattle, where I am researching mechanisms of cold tolerance in the fruit fly, Drosophila, and the snow fly, Chionea. I recently defended my Ph.D. in biology at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. My doctoral research was broadly focused on praying mantis systematics and morphology, with a specific emphasis on a unique sensory structure present on some species of Nanomantoidea.
